what words fit

An old handwritten letter rests on a wooden table
An old handwritten letter rests on a wooden table

what would i say,
to you still there,
crushed, broken limb,
desperate to the hills you stare.

what would i say,
as you’ve fallen, after slip,
dark hopelessness caught you,
sudden, swift, wings they clipped.

what would i say,
as it weighs, darker still,
cold rocks of hidden cave,
snuff out any fire of will.

i think i would say,
there’s more here becoming,
it’s going to be okay,
for you, rescue is coming.

i think i would say,
there’s ears that hear your cry,
you’ve never been alone,
a present company where you lie.

i think i would say,
stand strong, though you can’t,
hold on, little longer,
take new breath, though you pant.

what words even fit?
there’s not much to say,
you’re foot didn’t slip,
we walk another day.
