Grand Canyon Arizona
Grand Canyon Arizona

treading on new, yet seasoned terrain,
moving and shaping it must.
carving canyons, crafting cliffs,
forces moving, eroding the dust.
layering, coloring, and texturing
the earth that remains.
scorching, digging, crumbling,
creating fresh from weathered again.
rising cliffs and monuments,
ears to hear what’s long been told.
walls of wonder, wearied history,
now sites to behold.

must descend to demand lifted gaze,
enter the depths to appreciate
the magnitude of the heights.
in dry valley low, melt to the great.
as the river carves deep,
beauty and might rise around.
the furnace squeezes the breath,
only groans on holy ground.
spectrum of reds and whites,
meet wondering, searching eye,
there is a rock,
higher than i,
much higher than i.
