taking things lightly
light is breaking in, light is breaking out.
light is penetrating, light is emerging.
light is holding, light is releasing.
darkness is not to be feared,
just a spot not yet light.
darkness is an opening,
a spot where light is headed.
darkness is an opportunity,
a spot where light wants to touch.
darkness is pesky,
yet light is relentless.
darkness only holds its degree
as contrast to the light.
but light can’t help itself,
can’t leave dark alone.
seeping where allowed,
and changing the hue,
same space, different view.
to stumble upon more dark,
is to wait and see incoming light.
a cold presence
becomes an invitation for warm embrace.
when all that’s seen is dark around,
is to know the light is within and outbound.
light wins, warms, enlivens,
then looks to move again,
not to leave, but to expand.
for what light touches
cannot fully find the same darkness again.
but what the dark holds or tries to dim
is simply inviting light again.
oh light,
let there be.
