sacraments
the sacraments steady,
the sufferer saves,
saves the suffering,
the savior sees.
body and bread broken,
the believer can now boast,
breaking and breathing, now becoming,
their body beaten beneath the bad,
invite bigger beauty in the better.
through thorn and thistle,
thinking the thoughtless,
trouble that torments there,
toiling til thrashed and thwarted,
then tightly true hold the thankful,
triumph thrusts through.
manna’s meager means,
majesty midst the mundane,
mustering many cries for more,
measuring minutely,
managing only marginally,
til melted again by the much.
the sacraments steady,
seeking to savor the simple,
soul again suscitated,
sustained and supported still,
sitting in the sacred.
