right in time for the new year, instead of creating new resolutions, or intentions, or goals, i find myself wanting to do a clean out. wiping the slate clean of what can be gleaned from 2023 to make room for what’s coming my way in 2024.

early last year, at a rather transformational leadership seminar experience that i attended, i was given the encouragement/feedback: “as it comes to you, let it flow through you.”

recognizing that i am only a vessel - i can’t clog with stagnant water. the freshest water is water that is flowing.

with that said, in an effort to do more flowing and less collecting this year - i will start with a clean out. a dump of marginal thoughts that have been in the various notes and misc thoughts tabs for awhile now.
making room for the new and getting the juices flowing.
and who knows, maybe these will resurface at their appointed time, but for now, plenty of chewable nuggets for the start of a new year….

  • It’s your time to participate. Be present, be patient, and receive permission to participate.

  • God what do you see?
God what do you want me to see?
God what do you want me to think/rethink?
    Help my unbelief

  • What does not settling look like here?
    This matters.
Look at life and be inspired.
When you’re not inspired, go live life.

  • Expect gratitude - what part of “this” will I eventually be thankful for?

  • What should I go pro in?
What does it look like to commit fully in a singular direction and go all in?
Excellence is being able to say I did all I could do.
    Different results require different inputs.
    Continuously recalibrate the minimum standard.

  • Grit = passion and perseverance for long term goals.
    Passion + perseverance + purpose.
Mundanity of excellence. Lower case p of perseverance in consistent small things towards your long term big thing.

  • Intersection of interests and values enables stamina.

  • “Grit is about working on something you care about so much that you’re willing to stay loyal to it…It’s more about stamina than intensity.”

  • “Enthusiasm is common. Endurance is rare.” Passion is not the fireworks, it’s the compass.

  • Is your grit a worth/control issue or a grounded passion response?

  • There is a tension I walk between who I am now and who I am becoming.
Water the seeds, don’t judge them.
    What can I water today?
What can I do now to help my future self?

  • Ask big questions.
If this was a chapter in your life what’s it about/titled?
What is your central concern of your personal development right now?

  • Insecurities are exposed false securities.

  • Master managing moments.
Questions lead to conversations lead to relationships lead to opportunities lead to action.
For the opportunity you want, work backwards to the questions you should be asking.

As it comes to me, let it flow through me.
