formerly
forget the former -
the blind, the lonely, the dark, the old.
remember the Former -
who has planned,
who has known,
who has spoken,
who has purposed,
and who is doing new.
let go of the former,
be introduced again to the Former.
in the former, your hands were forming.
in the new, you teach me you knew.
in the now, i’m fully known.
he formed my form,
in some ways formerly,
in new ways still forming.
my Former has always held,
midst this hands-on process,
making, creating, shaping,
intimately acquainted with my form.
now onwards,
inward more,
forgetting the former ways,
releasing the shrinking.
seeing the Former’s ways,
relenting to enlarging.
i relinquish the old, the former,
exposed to receive the Former.
for the formed it's impossible to know,
exactly where the Former will go.
so the invitation to the new,
to forget what the form once knew.
these thoughts and ways far higher,
offer a yoke far lighter.
forget the former thoughts,
they’re no longer yours,
forget the former shame,
it’s no longer your name.
remember the Former’s ways,
they’ve always been good,
remember the Former’s hands,
they’re here to stay.
forgetting what’s finished,
because there’s something new beginning.
blowing off what’s dusted,
the clay softened again.
you have the finish in mind,
so into your hands i trust,
you are my Former,
and for you i am formed.
