brown round metal round frame

naked here i sit,
water running down,
this leg, this limb,
outside its protective splint.

this once was my leg,
now it’s hard to believe it is.
it doesn’t look like my leg,
feel like my leg,
move like my leg,
and i wonder if it ever will.

beautiful broken thing,
naked limbs,
trimmed branches strewn
about the yard.
each gust of wind extra chilly,
each breeze cutting.
graces bare,
barkless places.

my brain and will fight for hope,
my tears betray the emotions still.
crushed and undone,
and not just my body,
come and rebuild,
heart and limb again.
