consider the birds

consider the birds,
burdens so light, they fly.
squawk boldly until they sing,
leaping from the nest,
necessary to find their wings.
their home sits high above
a branched, leafy rooted place.
resting or soaring there’s no worrying,
a higher view enabled by altitude,
a perspective that elevates,
and alleviates, what’s on earth below.
where they land is a perch they trust,
a nest for restoring fortitude.
so all the other trees or branches
they find no need to touch,
become of no concern,
because it’s far above them,
the birds find their natural realm.
consider then, when rains come,
there’s always a refuge for return.
no surprise or confusion
the birds need consider,
for this cycle, this beauty of nature,
is designed for this fortress,
the roots thirsty for heavenly nurture.
to keep green this safe haven,
is to delight to receive these showers.
from the heights to the roots rain touches,
and not to forget the flowers.
it’s for all the colors this sky water falls.
it’s for beauty and calling us home,
for the lilies, the doves, the ravens,
that’s why these rains have come.
consider this kingdom,
what care is at play.
remember not the former,
or be weighed by future days.
for it’s within this one,
you whisper a new beginning,
each morning you remind me,
light is still winning.
